14K Gold-filled wire.

Gold-filled wire is a thick layer of gold on the outside of the wire and non-precious metal in the interior. It is a much higher quality material than gold-plated wire and costs twice as much as silver. Gold-plate is an extremely thin layer of gold (only a few molecules thick) and rubs off inside of a month or so and is very cheap. Gold-filled wire will always look and feel like solid 14K gold, but costs one tenth of what 14K gold does.
